Finding Great Vendors For My Restaurant

When I opened my first restaurant, I realized that the food needed to be impeccable. Instead of worrying about food costs, I zeroed in on the best vendors and gave them my business. The rewards were incredible. Customers absolutely loved the food, and they just kept coming back. Five years later, my business is running strong, and I owe it all to those initial business relationships with vendors. Check out this blog to learn why food vendors are so important, and how to choose between multiple businesses. Tips For Catering Your Own Party

by Simon Best

If you're planning to have a party and want to provide the food yourself, it can be an overwhelming but rewarding job. In order to make sure you and your guests have a great experience, there are things you should know that can help ensure your next party is a success. Follow these tips to help you plan one of the best parties you've ever hosted, that is also catered by you!

Getting Ready

Before the date of your big event, you should do the following to prepare:

  • Send out invitations and request an RSVP so you have an accurate headcount.
  • Determine whether you'll make individual dishes or serve your food buffet style.
  • Gather enough tables and chairs in order to provide sufficient accommodations for your guests.
  • Decide if you plan to use disposable cups and flatware or use your own.
  • Develop a menu and make a thorough shopping list of all ingredients.
  • Have all recipes printed or written out so you can easily refer to them when it's time to cook.
  • Think about decorations such as tablecloths, place settings, and lighting.
  • Make sure you have adequate room in your fridge and plenty of pots, pans, and dishes to make everything.
  • Don't forget to think about beverages and decide if you'll include alcohol on the menu.
  • Ask for help if you need it; close friends and family would probably love to assist you with the cooking and food prep.

Your Big Event

If you're ready to take on the huge task of catering your own party, you'll still want to be able to relax and enjoy the evening with friends and family. Having all of your dishes made the night before can be a big help. Set the tables and place settings up well in advance so they're ready to go the day of the party and you won't have to get them ready in a frenzy. Make sure everything you make can be easily warmed up and don't hesitate to consider things like cold finger foods for appetizers, which will require less preparation.

You can rotate the food you serve in batches so that everything stays fresh before serving. If you decide to offer a buffet style party, make sure you have the right food warmers so everything stays hot and delicious. If you're doing the serving by the plate, have each dish ready to go and plated when people arrive. Remember to have fun and be proud of your accomplishments catering your own party! And of course, don't forget to serve an easy yet delicious dessert.

If you ultimately decide that you'd rather go the professional route, a service like Kickapoo Creek Catering can help you out.
